A meeting held on April 26, 2024 elected the Directive Board and the Supervisory Board of Abrafati (Brazilian Coatings Manufacturers Association), as well as the chairpersons of the Sustainability Committee and the newly created Quality Committee of the Board of Directors. The new directors started serving their terms promptly upon being elected and will hold them until 2026.
For this term, the Directive Board is headed by Daniel Campos, president at AkzoNobel for Latin America. Marizeth Carvalho (general manager for Southern Latin America and head of global strategic marketing for Industrial Coatings at PPG) and Nilton Rezende (general manager at Sherwin-Williams Brazil) hold the offices of first and second vice presidents, respectively.
Also on the Directive Board are Agnaldo Bergamo (Eucatex), Alan Souza (Iquine), Andreas Gaudenz von Salis (Montana), Douver Gomes Martinho (Universo), Marcelo Cenacchi (Renner Sayerlack), Marcos Allemann (BASF), Maria Cristina Potomati (Lukscolor), Mateus Aquino (Axalta), Milton Killing (Killing), and Rafael Torezan (WEG).
Marizeth Carvalho of PPG will chair the Sustainability Committee of the Directive Board, while Douver Martinho of Universo will chair the governing body’s Quality Committee.
For the Supervisory Board, Luciano Santos (Hydronorth), Luiz Fernando Fruet (Skylack), and Marcus Medeiros (Jotun) were elected as incumbent members, with Noely Dal Prá (Dacar), Camila Pavan (Anjo) and Delcio de Azevedo (Futura) chosen as alternate members.
Speaking at his inauguration, Campos stressed that his priority will be to continue advancing on key issues for the industry.
“To me, it’s a great honor and joy to take over as chairman of Abrafati’s Directive Board and to be able to work together with the other members towards sustainable development in the coatings industry,” Campos said. “I’m a firm believer in the potential of our market, which is already one of the world’s top five, and in the mobilization capacity of Abrafati and its members.
“I believe that, together, we can advance even further on key items on our agenda—improving product quality, promoting sustainable practices in businesses, boosting innovation, and training the professionals who are in the industry, thereby creating greater value for both customers and consumers, while making a positive impact on our people and communities,” he added.
Campos joined AkzoNobel in September 2015 as managing director for Decorative Paints LATAM and remains responsible for the business unit performance. In mid-2018, he became regional director assuming corporate and organizational responsibility for operations in Latin America, including the Orbis group integration.
Since 2021, he is also responsible for Decorative Paints Global Marketing programs, which includes branding, innovation, and color initiatives. Since 2023, Campos is member of the global Executive Committee, being the first Latin American to integrate the highest governance of the company.
Before joining AkzoNobel, Campos worked in Natura for three years, managing Global Personal Care for the Brazilian health & beauty leader. Before that, he spent 19 years at Procter & Gamble, where he held several global, regional and local positions across geographies and categories in general management, sales and marketing roles for the consumer goods company.
