Recently, Sinopec's first 230000 ton/year melt direct spinning intelligent polyester staple fiber project was fully completed and put into operation in Yizheng Chemical Fiber. This project is the latest achievement of Sinopec in building a high-end, intelligent, and green aromatic downstream industry chain demonstration base.

This project is the first sub project constructed and put into operation in the Yizheng Chemical Fiber 4 million ton/year high-end green new material integration project, including 230000 ton/year polyester production line, 4 25000 ton/year spunlace non-woven polyester short fiber production lines, 4 33000 ton/year low melting point polyester short fiber production lines, as well as public engineering and auxiliary facilities. The project adopts Sinopec's own technology to produce low melting point, spunlaced non-woven fabric melt direct spinning polyester short fibers, which have the advantages of green environmental protection and good safety.
It is reported that the main equipment of the project is domestically manufactured, and the process technology route, equipment selection, cleaning and purification plant design, intelligent manufacturing, etc. all represent the leading level in China. The project has applied more than 10 new technologies such as intelligent alarm interlocking and automatic handling systems, resulting in a 20% improvement in per capita labor efficiency and achieving intelligent improvement and digital transformation. At the same time, the project adopts green and low-carbon new technologies and equipment in terms of process flow, process control, and equipment selection process, resulting in a significant reduction in electricity consumption, natural gas consumption, and steam consumption. The product energy consumption has reached the advanced level in China. Especially when producing low melting point polyester staple fibers, zero emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are achieved.
Sinopec stated that after the project is put into operation, it will assist Sinopec in continuously strengthening and optimizing the aromatic hydrocarbon industry chain, and promoting the upgrading and extension of the industry chain. The annual production capacity of Yizheng chemical fiber polyester staple fiber has also reached 1.33 million tons, equivalent to over 26 million mu of high-quality cotton field production.

Synthetic fibers produced from aromatic hydrocarbons can effectively solve the problem of land competition between natural fibers and grains. Polyester is the largest and most widely used variety of chemical fibers, accounting for over 80% of China's chemical fiber production. As a type of polyester, polyester staple fibers are widely used in fields such as automotive interiors, household textiles, flooring materials, construction engineering, footwear materials, health care, filtration materials, etc. Yizheng Chemical Fiber is a benchmark enterprise in the domestic polyester and fiber industry, and in recent years, the production and sales of polyester staple fibers have continued to maintain the world's top. Its spunlaced non-woven polyester short fiber has a domestic high-end market share of over 70%, making it the first brand in China. Since 2018, Yizheng Chemical Fiber has continuously maintained the title of "Excellent Supplier in China's Non woven Fabric Industry".
